- Abstract
Researchers at the University of Science and Technology of China have developed a compact and lightweight airborne single-photon lidar system that can capture high-resolution 3D images using a low-power laser. The system utilizes single-photon detection techniques to measure the time it takes for laser pulses to travel to objects and return. It enables precise 3D mapping of terrain and objects in challenging environments. The team is working on improving the system and eventually installing it on a space-based platform.
