COPYRIGHT POLICYMAKING AS PROCEDURAL DEMOCRATIC PROCESS: A DISCOURSE-THEORETIC PERSPECTIVE ON ACTA, SOPA, AND PIPA.
- Authors
Bridy, Annemarie
- Abstract
The article discusses the copyright law policymaking process in the U.S. as of July 2012, focusing on an analysis of the closed international process which produced the multinational treaty known as the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), as well as the open domestic process which produced the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA) legislative bills in the U.S. All three pieces of legislation reportedly contain copyright enforcement measures to prevent Internet piracy.
