- Abstract
This article discusses the evolution from placenta previa to Type-3 vasa previa, a variant of vasa previa where fetal vessels run over the cervix without a velamentous cord insertion or accessory lobes. The article presents a case study of a 32-year-old patient who initially appeared to have placenta previa but was later diagnosed with Type-3 vasa previa through ultrasound imaging. The article emphasizes the importance of screening for vasa previa, as it is associated with high perinatal mortality when undiagnosed. It recommends Doppler imaging and transvaginal ultrasound assessment for patients with second-trimester placenta previa to rule out vasa previa.
