- Abstract
To evaluate whether diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound in detecting histologically proven placental accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders is modified by the depth of placental invasion in patients with placenta praevia (placental edge< 2 cm from the internal uterine os, > 26 gestational weeks). Diagnostic accuracy was significantly higher when placenta was increta rather than accreta (79.1% vs 50.3% p = 0.003), although placenta percreta was more accurately detected than increta (87.1% vs 79.1%; p = 0.014). Diagnostic accuracy of ultrasound for antenatal detection of PAS was considerably higher when placenta percreta was confirmed after delivery by pathological examination.
