Cities and global environmental change: exploring the links.
- Authors
Simon, David
- Abstract
This article focuses on the potential link between cities and global environmental change. Half of the population around the world is classified as living in urban areas. These areas are considered responsible for generating an increased proportion of gross geographical product in most countries. The two elements of global environmental changes are: the increasing frequency and severity of extreme events and a range of slow-onset event or trends.
