Limb projections on Saturn.
- Authors
Shears, Jeremy; Baum, Richard
- Abstract
The article focuses on the two unusual observations of Saturn as recorded by star observer, Thomas Hinsley Astbury during the early years of the twentieth century. It states that through his wray refractor, he noticed the differential refraction by the atmosphere he has seen as Saturn approached the limb of the moon. Moreover, through his Calver reflector, he noticed at the extremity of the south equatorial belt, a bright area, highlighted by the planet's shadow on the rings.
