- Abstract
Assuming a praxeological point of view, this essay will conceptualize translation as a category indicating a certain practice of association. In this practice not contexts, cultures or languages as such are linked, but rather speech acts, texts or utterances in general. This implies an inverse conceptualization of the relationship between translation and context with respect to ways it is mostly perceived: from a cultural-theoretical perspective, instead of presupposing pre-existing contexts between which translation would assume a mediating position, those contexts are created through the practice of translation itself, i.e. they are invoked, referred to, and perspectivized in translation.
