- Abstract
To explore the ablation characteristics and laws of energetic materials under ultraviolet laser irradiation, our study uses characterization methods, including optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, and particle counter to characterize the ablation size, ablation morphology, and material splash of RDX energetic materials caused by shock wave under ultraviolet laser (the wavelength: 355 nm) irradiation. The results show that as the incident laser fluence increases, the lateral ablation area and longitudinal ablation depth of the energetic materials firstly increase and then decrease, and the final ablation area remains at the size of the spot area, and the ablation depth remains about 60 μm; for laser ablation-induced energetic material particle splash, the number of medium-sized particles increases firstly and then decreases, while the number of large-sized particles has been decreasing. Compared with laser irradiation with a larger spot, the lateral ablation area under irradiation with a small spot is smaller and the effect of laser ablation particle splash is stronger under the same fluence.
