- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 61-year-old with a 9-month history of pruritic erythema on her upper eyelids and cheeks. It has been suspected that the patient has used a skin-whitening product that contains arbutin, which has an inhibitory effect on the synthesis of melanin. It has been ruled out that the contributing mechanism for the inhibitory effect on the synthesis of the melanin is the inhibition of the tyrosinase activity.
