- Abstract
This article discusses the successful treatment of a rare condition called trachyonychia, which is characterized by thin nails with ridges and a rough texture. Trachyonychia can be associated with various diseases, including alopecia areata. The article presents a case study of a 40-year-old male patient with alopecia universalis and trachyonychia. The patient was treated with baricitinib, a medication commonly used for alopecia, and experienced significant improvement in both his nail symptoms and hair regrowth. The article highlights the potential benefits of Janus kinase inhibitors, like baricitinib, in treating trachyonychia and improving patients' quality of life.
