- Abstract
This article explores the potential of simvastatin (SIM) and mifepristone (MIF) as a combined treatment for uterine fibroids. The study investigates the effects of SIM on the progesterone receptor (PR) pathway and fibroid cell proliferation using human tissue samples, cell cultures, and a xenograft mouse model. The results show that SIM inhibits fibroid growth by suppressing PR expression and downstream signaling pathways. Additionally, the combination of SIM and MIF demonstrates a synergistic effect in inhibiting fibroid cell proliferation and affecting extracellular matrix dynamics. The findings suggest that SIM and MIF may have potential as a multi-pronged treatment for uterine fibroids.
