- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented for several works of 17th century English literature, including the poems "Paradise Lost" and "Paradise Regained" by John Milton and the prose fiction book "Oroonoko," by Aphra Behn. Particular focus is given to the portrayal of the substitution within 17th century English literature, including in regard to English royal succession and conjugal love.
