- Authors
GEIMER, PETER
- Abstract
The article discusses the history of the shroud that Jesus Christ was wrapped in for burial, with a particular focus on French biologist Paul Vignon's critique of 1890s photography of the shroud. Vignon's perspective that the photograph did not show an image of Christ's dead body outlined in the shroud, including through analyzing the negative of the photograph, is discussed. An overview of the late 1890s and early 1900s scientific analysis of the image in Christ's burial shroud is provided.
