Abstract
The article presents a speech by Honorable Marlene Jennings, the first Black woman from Quebec to be elected to Parliament in the history of Confederation, delivered at the annual Canada-United States Law Institute Conference, titled "Understanding Each Other Across the Largest Undefended Border in History," on April 15-16, 2005 in Cleveland, Ohio. Jennings looks into the future of the relationship between Canada and the United States.
