- Authors
Lamberg, Lynne
- Abstract
The article focuses on the results of research on the mental health of immigrants' children in the U.S. that were discussed at a symposium at the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in 2008. The research found that children of immigrants in the U.S. must cope with the challenges of being a member of an ethnic or racial minority and many other stresses, which leads to their having an increased risk for depression, anxiety, substance abuse and other mental health problems. The impact increased immigration enforcement activity has had on the mental health of the children is discussed. INSET: Mental Illness, Not Immigrant Issues, Central in Virginia Tech....
