The article focuses on the role of education and women empowerment in increasing the political participation of women. It refers to remarkable changes in attitudes towards women and the entry of women into all sectors of the workforce in the last 25 years. It states that when women's primary concern remains subsistence and survival, it is unrealistic to expect such women to aspire to political leadership.
