- Authors

- Abstract
The article explores correspondence between microbiologist Paul De Kruif and protozoologist Clifford Dobell, with particular focus given to their relationship to De Kruif's book "Microbe Hunters." Debate over the discovery of the transmission of malaria by mosquitos by researcher Ronald Ross or by researcher Giovanni Battista Grassi is examined and the attitudes of De Kruif and Dobell regarding Ross are explored. Ross' scientific merits, the bias expressed by De Kruif in his writings, and Dobell's efforts to refrain from public debate concerning Ross's contributions are also discussed.
