- Authors

- Abstract
The article focuses on how clinicians can understand the elements of patient well-being in the intensive care unit (ICU) with an emphasis on three theories, including hedonism, desire-satisfaction and the objective list. Topics covered include how the hedonism theory motivates patient care in the ICU, satisfaction of desires as an element of a person's well-being, and the limitations of the objective list as it applies to the ICU patient population.
