- Abstract
This article discusses the legal consequences and punishment related to the practice of witchcraft and magic in Spain during the 18th century. It examines the ecclesiastical and secular administration of justice directed toward occultism. The author analyzes the role of the Spanish Inquisition and the Santo Oficio (Holy Office) in the legal proceedings against such criminals. She also studies the inquisitorial process, especially in the case of a gypsy woman and accused witch known as Catalina la Santa, using historical legal documents from the period.
