- Abstract
The author examines the issue in bringing the concept of genetically modified (GM) product to ornamental plant or floriculture in the marketplace. It is stated that the Hayward, California-based Mendel Biotechnology Inc. and German plant breeder Selecta Kleem collaborated aiming to develop a new range of ornamental products. Here, it highlights the other company that either developing or marketing a GM ornamental plant such as Ornamental Bioscience, Florigene and Michelle Jones. Among the plants that are involved in GM research are blue carnation, blue rose and fragrant rose.
