- Title
BLURRING THE LINES: WHEN THE "BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILD" FALL TO THE WAYSIDE. AN ANALYSIS OF OHIO'S SERIOUS YOUTHFUL OFFENDER STATUTE.
- Authors
Barth, Emily L.
- Abstract
In this article the author discusses the implementation of Serious Youthful Offender (SYO) statute in Ohio. The author notes that the existing juvenile justice system does not work in accordance with the mission of the state's Department of Youth and Services (DYS). The author argues that a juvenile delinquent should be provided with the right to a jury trial as stipulated under the Sixth Amendment to the country's Constitution.
