Scott's Bluff, Giant Landmark of the Oregon-California Trails.
- Authors
Mattes, Merrill J.
- Abstract
The article presents information on Scott's Bluff, an important Nebraska landmark in the North Platte Valley that is part of the Oregon-California Trails. The author examines how the bluff itself, along with the larger range of bluffs of which it is a part, has been written about since being encountered by travelers heading west. The routes allowing passage through the bluffs include the Robidoux Pass and the Mitchell Pass. The author discusses how he first encountered Scott's Bluff in his work on western migration and the Oregon Trail.
