In this article, the author discusses the availability of tort remedies when pets are wrongfully killed in Colorado. He analyzes and criticizes the "value-to-the-owner" rule and the "market value of the animal" rule. He contends that the state needs to reject the latter rule and permit pet owners to recover their emotional distress due to the killing of the pets.
