- Title
Protecting Personal Dignity: Advocating for a Federal Right of Publicity Against Pornographic Deepfakes.
- Authors
von Denlinger, Tyler
- Abstract
The article explores the issue of deepfake pornography and the legal complexities surrounding it. Deepfakes are digitally manipulated videos or images that can deceive or harm individuals. The article suggests that a federal right of publicity statute could protect individuals from the unauthorized use of their likeness and allow them to seek legal remedies from internet service providers. However, there are concerns about potential infringements on free speech rights, and the article proposes a narrowly defined statute that would regulate deepfake pornography without violating the First Amendment.
