- Abstract
During the years prior to the outbreak of World War I and during the war itself Cubism was denigrated as a Bosch form of art that was diametrically opposed to the new traditionalist aspirations of allied France. At the same time, the terrible conflict forced artists and dealers to either enlist or flee from Paris. It was not easy to rebuild the damaged artistic fabric of the city but old and new art lovers joined forces in this artistic reawakening, in which Cubism fought to survive and reinvent itself.
