- Abstract
Aim. The aim of this study was evaluation of value of „white coat effect" in hypertensive patients with and without type 2 diabetes. Material and method. The study group (group 1) comprised 53 hypertensive type 2 diabetic patients. Control group consisted of 51 hypertensive patients without diabetes (group 2). 24h -- ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) in all patients was performed. „Office blood pressure" values were collected during clinic visit with the use of mercurial sphygmomanometer. „White coat effect" was diagnosed when „office blood pressure" values were higher than ABPM values. Results. No difference between studied groups in blood pressure values measured with the use of mercurial sphygmomanometer was observed (p>0.05). No difference between studied groups in blood pressure values measured in ABPM was observed (p>0.05). There were no differences in value of „white coat effect" for blood pressure between both groups (p>0.05). Conclusions. There were not differences in value of „white coat effect" in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes and without diabetes.
