- Abstract
The article examines the perception of Jewish Orthodoxy of 20th century Jewish studies scholar and historian Jacob Katz. The author presents the principles of Katz's teachings and compares and contrasts those principles with Western Europe Orthodoxy and Eastern European Orthodoxy and modern Jewish history. The article discusses the development of Eastern European Orthodoxy. It discusses Katz's works including the book "Halakhah Be-Meitsar," "Leumiyut Yehudit, and "The Role of Religion in Modern Jewish History."
