- Title
A poor fit for journalism research.
- Authors
Pearson, Mark
- Abstract
The article looks at the impact of Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA), an initiative to assess the research quality of higher education institutions, on journalism research in the country. It highlights the disadvantage of ERA to disciplines, institutions and individual researchers. It also indicates the bias of the initiative against smaller institutions. The article identifies a lack of transparency and a process of self-nominating conflicts of interest as concerns over ERA.
