- Abstract
This article, published in the British Journal of Haematology, describes a case study of an 82-year-old man who was admitted to the hospital with fever and pneumonia. During the physical examination, a bruise-like papule on the left thigh was discovered, which had been present for 6 months. Further tests revealed abnormal cells in the bone marrow, indicating a diagnosis of blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN), a rare haematological malignancy. The patient's condition was complicated by unresolved urosepsis and pneumonia, and he passed away 1.5 months after the diagnosis. The article emphasizes the variable appearance of cutaneous lesions in BPDCN and the poor treatment responses often seen in older adults with this disease.
