- Abstract
The article focuses on the University of the Philippines (UP) School of Library and Information Studies (LIS) including the continuing tradition of new competencies in LIS education in Philippines. It mentions the traditional and new competencies in librarianship such as preservation and conservation of heritage, and education, research, and scholarship. It states some courses to be offered for the future librarians including information resource development, research capabilities, and web design. It says that the UP School aims to be responsible for the development of the library services in the country.
