- Abstract
The article discusses the use of service learning (SL) to reduce racism as part of social work education at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (MUN) in St John's, Newfoundland. Topics discussed include the ways in which groups and individuals become known as "the other" and are treated accordingly by societies, the building of self-awareness in social work students, and student understanding of racism and discrimination in society in order to lessen it.
