- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the application of network-based three-dimensional virtual worlds in computer-assisted language learning (CALL). It says that the reviewed literature shows the risk in terms of assuming that learners can automatically learn in an online environment. The result of the study reveals that the use of 3-D virtual worlds in CALL enables an access to diverse groups of interlocutors and development of collaborative social relationship.
