- Abstract
The article provides information on the ways of Bugis people in South Sulawesi in communicating people either Bugis or Indonesian. It describes Bugis as one of the four major languages of South Sulawesi and their population totals up to three million and can be found in other regions in Indonesia. It notes that Bugis are bilingual and uses two dominant languages wherein Bugis is their traditional language and Indonesian is their national language. Moreover, it discusses the different patterns of use for Bugis and Indonesian.
