- Abstract
The article presents a study on the effects of carbamate herbicide benthiocarb and organophosphate insecticide methylparathion on glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione content, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities of nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria Nostoc muscorum. The study uses glutathione assays and fluorescence spectrophotometry. Results show that SOD and GR activity and the glutathione content depletion occurred within cyanobacterial cells under experimental exposure to pesticides.
