- Abstract
The historian Dipesh Chakrabarty is a well-known representative of postcolonial theory formation and criticizes the Eurocentric imprint of historiography. He emphasizes the importance of marginalized perspectives and conflicting historiography. In his more recent works, he deals with the effects of climate change on historical and political thinking and emphasizes the need to consider the category of the "planet". The text discusses the significance of the Anthropocene and humanity's responsibility for the transformation of biological, ecological, geological, and atmospheric processes. It is emphasized that the social and human sciences must incorporate the insights of Earth system sciences into their research in order to meet the challenges of the Anthropocene. Chakrabarty's book "The Climate of History in the Planetary Age" deepens these concepts and emphasizes the need for a comprehensive understanding of history that takes into account the interconnection of capitalism and human history.
