- Abstract
The article "A small theological perspective on pleasure" discusses various theological views on pleasure. According to Buddhist and yogic teachings, pleasure should not be the goal of spiritual life. Ancient Gnostic worldviews considered the world as a temporary illusory place and rejected pleasure. On the other hand, ancient Judaism regarded the world as well-created. The church has long pursued a negative theology, considering worldly things as inferior. However, there were later voices calling for a reassessment of the world and its developments. "Theology after Auschwitz" emphasizes the positive worldview of Judaism and the Old Testament. Positive theology in Christianity takes a new look at worldly pleasure and asks for an eco-social-political responsibility. It is suggested that in the future, we should enjoy ourselves more modestly and love, save, and preserve the world with less energy and consumption.
