- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 68-year-old woman who, during an asthma attack, complained of loss of vision and visual acuity (VA), diagnosed later as cortical blindness. The clinical syndrome is characterized by loss of vision, normal papillary reflexes, and normal funduscopic examination. Cortical blindness often occurs with patients who suffer from cerebrovascular disease and/or underwent cardiac surgery and cerebral angiography. In rare cases, asthma attacks can trigger the blindness.
