- Abstract
The article presents information on research papers prepared by researchers at the Tel Aviv University, in Tel Aviv, Israel. Arie Shirom is continuing his investigations in the area of public employee labor relations in Israel. He has completed an analysis on the national level of the labor relations system in public employment and is now studying public employment at the local level. The major emphasis of this research is on the environmental determinants of bargaining attitudes and behavior of union officers in public employment. About 370 officers of 180 local unions and ministries of the government were interviewed for this project. Another major study in this area involves the employment behavior of university graduates in the social sciences and humanities who do not possess identifiable occupational skills on entering the labor market. The purpose of this study is to appraise their need for a program of occupational training. Research in this area is also aimed at determining the degree to which skills and knowledge acquired during undergraduate studies are related to job satisfaction and job mobility.
