- Abstract
The article examines the economic and sociocultural aspects of coffee production by small-scale farmers in Veracruz, Mexico. Identifying two main tendencies of coffee farming in the Xalapa-Coatepec region of Veracruz, the author compares these strategies and analyzes how they relate to the dynamics of the international coffee market and market positioning by producers. According to the article, the heterogeneous nature of production practices are linked to local social and historical contexts and reveal broader societal implications for farmers and the region.
