- Abstract
The article examines ways to approach culture change, a human resource practice, and choices in the culture change process in the United States. The companies Amoco Corp. and Rockwell International Corp. have redefined their cultures. They demonstrate that it is possible to redefine mission, vision, and values, and to install them in companies which already have rich histories. The process is long, and recidivism is a danger. However, these companies affirm that cultural change is possible even though it requires constant attention, redundancy of communication, and periodic assessments of progress.
