The ketogenic diet has been used since 1920 for the treatment of refractory epilepsy, especially in children. This diet is essentially a food processing with a high content of fat and a minimum contribution of carbohydrates and proteins, which contributes, through different mechanisms of action, a 50% decrease in the epileptic crisis of patients.
