- Abstract
This paper discusses the advantages of using a combination of project management methodologies Agile / Scrum with XP (Xtreme programming) and Kanban in a complex project in a large corporation to reduce project risk. In addition, the importance of communication of project accomplishments and risks to the program and portfolio managers and lines of business (LOB) is covered. Finally, the Project Management Institute (PMI) latest PMBOK guides are reviewed to see how PMI has addressed the use of different methodologies. The purpose for this paper is to show through the presentation of concepts and use of an example that more than one project methodology is possible in a single project. Second, continuous learning by experimentation and the use of retrospectives during the project is the best way to ensure success.
