- Abstract
The article reports on the case of midline cleft lip and palate that was observed during the routine second-trimester anomaly scan in the first pregnancy of a Caucasian woman. The parents were advised that in spite of the normal karyotype, there might be some more serious underlying pathology. In the lack of a definitive diagnosis, the parents decided to continue the pregnancy. However, when it was found that there was an underlying genetic syndrome, the parents terminated the pregnancy.
