The article discusses the use of Body Mass Index (BMI) cut points in screening Asian Americans for type 2 diabetes. Topics include the composition of Asian Americans in the U.S. according to the U.S. Census Bureau, factors like quantity and distribution of body fat, abdominal circumference, and waist and hip measurements, BMI cutoffs for overweight and obese individuals and the cut point of 25 for increased morbidity and mortality, and the Diabetes Study of Northern California (DISTANCE).
