- Title
CERTAINTY AND PROBABILITY IN ANALYSIS OF NEW TYPES OF ILLICIT DRUGS.
- Authors
COSTACHE, Emilian; STOIAN, Maria
- Abstract
Lately, new classes of substances appeared on the market, synthesized in the laboratory, with psychoactive effects similar to those of "classic" illicit drugs. Each class of such compounds has a basic chemical structure around which many substances are synthesized by means of small or large changes in the molecule. The conclusions of physical-chemical expertises on samples suspected of containing illicit drugs are almost always of certainty, the identification of compounds from such evidence being undeniable. There are also, however, conclusions of probability, near certainty, all being just a consequence of limiting factors, resulting from the inability of an additional confirmation of the identification, because of the lack of certified standards, and not due to the chemist expert uncertainty.
