- Abstract
One of the most common symptoms experienced by patients who undergo sternotomy is sternal pain. The purpose of this case report is to explain the Roy Adaptation Model in the nursing care of the patient undergoing sternotomy. The North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) provides a systematic nursing care by using Taxonomy II and Classification of Nursing Interventions (NIC) and Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) systems. The patient who had a coronary artery bypass graft operation and experienced sternal pain in İzmir Katip Celebi University Atatürk Education and Research Hospital was followed up for 3 days. Nursing diagnoses were determined according to NANDA Taxonomy II, nursing interventions were applied according to NIC and evaluated according to NOC. The area that made the most difference was sleep. As a result of NOC "0004 sleep" care, 28 points increase was achieved.
