- Abstract
Objectives: Whole-circumference or near whole-circumference endoscopic submucosal dissection (WC/NWC-ESD) specimens require careful orientation, margin inking and complete sectioning for accurate histopathological diagnosis. Traditionally, grossing involves sectioning the specimen into small pieces to fit into routine histology cassettes. This requires detailed documentation of the process and is time consuming. It can also damage tissue integrity, make margin assessment difficult and cause errors. Methods: We propose a rolling pathology preparation technique for such specimens. Results: The rolling technique provides more precise information on orientation and allows for accurate distance to margins and depth of invasion measurements.
