- Abstract
The article focuses on the effectiveness and safety of the devil's claw or Harpagophytum procumbens in the treatment of osteoarthritis. It states that the devil's claw is a kind of herb commonly used to treat rheumatic conditions. Results from two trials found that 89 and 122 participants suggest that the herb may be effective in reducing osteoarthritic pain. It stresses that the herb should only be prescribed by qualified practitioners.
