A criticism of the Polish film "Ida," directed by Pawel Pawlikowski and starring Agata Trzebuchowska, Dawid Ogrodnik and Agata Kulesza. The film's depiction of a family in communist Poland during the 1960s, including in regard to the alcoholism and the symbolism of repression in the country, is discussed.
