- Abstract
In this article the authors offer their views on the concept of parental support within child welfare legislation and examine the normalization of the concept in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities of parents in the U.S. They mention that the concept has been insufficient in the majority of child protection laws. The development of new statutes and innovative programs that will examine the capabilities of disabled parents to nurture their children is also highlighted.
